Privacy Policy Overview
To enable you to leave comments on posts, subscribe to email newsletters, contact us, and otherwise use the site’s interactive features, it is sometimes necessary to collect information about you. This information is called “personally identifiable information” (read more about personally identifiable information on Wikipedia).
Although some types of information are required to use certain features, you are not required to use any of these features. Therefore, providing personally identifiable information to Developing-Space.com is entirely voluntary.
Developing-Space.com also captures anonymous user data for the purposes of aggregate reporting and advertising. This user data is not personally identifiable.
Developing-Space.com never shares personally identifiable information with third parties except in cases when you have opted in to doing so.
How much information is collected about me?
If you choose to use certain features of Developing-Space.com, you may be asked to provide a name, your email address, or other information. Your computer’s IP address may also logged by the server. We go over details on how each of these pieces of information is used later in this privacy policy.
Developing-Space.com uses a tool called Google Analytics to provide general, anonymous information about our visitors. Google Analytics is an industry standard tool that helps us make your experience on Developing-Space.com better. It’s important to note that Google’s own privacy policy prevents any data in Google Analytics reports from being personally identifiable, and IP anonymization has been enabled for this site. In particular Anonymized User and Event data retention by Google Analytics has been defined for 14 months and is not reset on new activity.
The reports in Google Analytics help us understand broad characteristics about our readers. For example, knowing what Internet browsers our readers are using helps us design and test the site using the right technology. Knowing readers’ connection speeds helps us optimize the site’s bandwidth usage. Knowing how often readers visit helps us make the right choices about how often to post new content.
Developing-Space.com servers are located in Singapore and are managed by SiteGround, which is fully GDPR Compliant (also see SiteGround’s Data Processing Agreement, and Privacy Policy). Site backups are stored offline in encrypted systems accessible only to the site owner.
Cloudflare is used as a web optimization and security service for this site, Cloudflare is fully GDPR Compliant (also see Cloudflare’s Data Processing Agreement, and Privacy Policy).
Management of email subscriptions is provided by MailChimp, which is GDPR Compliant (also see MailChimp’s Privacy Policy). Management of Administrator and Contributor accounts is provided by Developing-Space.com. Data in both systems is retained as long as requested by the user, and is immediately deleted upon request or registration/subscription cancellation.
How are users authenticated?
Developing-Space.com does not provide a method for providing comments, or for general site registration, however it does provide a method for contacting us, subscribing to email newsletters (if applicable) and for administration or contributor registration.
- Developing-Space.com website registration (only for Administrators or Contributors): Create a new account directly on Developing-Space.com by providing a name and your email address.
- Using the Contact Form: Some type of name is required, you can choose to use your own name, but you can also use a nickname, screen name, or other type of anonymous username. If you use the Contact Form, your name is included in the email message that is sent to Developing-Space.com.
- Subscribing to Email Newsletters (if applicable): Some type of name is required, you can choose to use your own name, but you can also use a nickname, screen name, or other type of anonymous username. Your email is used to provide the newsletter to you, and you must verify the address via a separate email, before newsletters are provided. Management of this is provided by MailChimp, which is GDPR Compliant (also see MailChimp’s Privacy Policy).
How are email addresses used?
An email address is required to register as an Administrator or Contributor (not open to public), use the Contact Form, or to subscribe to Email Newsletters (if applicable). This is part of the system that helps to make sure that anonymous spambots can’t leave spam comments or send website users junk email.
The email address you provide is not displayed to other readers. We will not use this email address to contact you except in rare cases where your online privacy or safety is at risk, or if subscribing to the Email Newsletter (if applicable) a maximum of once per month with site updates if available. However, by using the Contact Form or subscribing to Email Newsletters (if applicable), you give us permission to contact you in response.

How are IP addresses used?
An IP address is the unique electronic address that your Internet service provider assigns to your computer (read more about IP addresses on Wikipedia). When you use the Contact Form, the Contact Form logs the IP address of the person who used the form. The contact form submission data — IP address, name, email address, and message — is submitted to the Akismet service (also owned by Automattic) for the sole purpose of spam checking. The actual submission data is stored in the database of Developing-Space.com and is emailed directly to the site owner of Developing-Space.com only and includes the submitter’s IP address, timestamp, name, email address, and message.
Google Analytics uses IP addresses to determine what part of the world a reader is located in. Google Analytics data is completely anonymous, and Developing-Space.com does not have access to any personally identifiable information collected by Google.
